MCHS had sixteen students earn the coveted title of AP (Advanced Placement) Scholar. Senior, Chelsie Barrientos, was awarded the title with honors as she passed AP exams in the following areas: Human Geography, English Language Composition, Seminar, Spanish Language and Spanish Literature.

Our faculty has been very engaged in the book study of Dr. Dweck's book MINDSET: The New Psychology of Success. Teachers are making connections from the book to their classrooms and beyond. AP Social Studies teacher Mrs. Nogueras shared, "...it's all about perspective and the research proves that in fact, attitude can potentially play a more significant role than aptitude."

On Friday, September 8th, MCHS Students and Staff loaded all the water donations collected for Hurricane Harvey Relief. Student Council, National Honor Society, Alton Junior Officers alongside MCHS administration and staff, worked together to load up the water donations that will be taken to hurricane victims. MCHS would like to thank everyone who donated to this very successful relief effort.

We are joining the "Go Gold!" initiative to spread awareness for childhood cancer. During the month of September, MCHS students and staff are wearing "gold" on Fridays. To learn more, visit https://www.acco.org/

Our former Knights are sharing with us a peek into their college life. From a Harvard football game to St. Edwards freshmen orientation, our Knights are thoroughly enjoying their college experience.

MCHS Student Council takes action in Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. They will be accepting bottled water donations through September 8th. "It could have been us...it is our duty to help them out any way we can," STUCO (Student Council Organization) President Jackie Adame said.

Reminder that our first day of the 2017-2018 school year is August 28th.
STC Classes also begin August 28th.

All students have assigned summer reading that will be due on August 28th, 2017. Please refer to the attachment for the list of novels.

MCHS future graduate and current STC graduate, Zayda Martinez, was the Keynote Speaker at Alton Elementary's 5th Grade Graduation Ceremony. Kudos to Zayda for setting a great example and inspiring the younger generation.
Zayda will be receiving her high school diploma on June 2nd and has already graduated from South Texas College with an Associate's Degree.
